Perpetual Posting & Photo-ing

A few things:

There's going to be a lot of me this week on The Perpetual Post starting today. Another Week in Review for the NFL (not as many games on my end) and quick thoughts on the Joakim Noah contract from the Chicago Bulls. While I wasn't exactly enamored with the former Florida Gator coming into the NBA, he's turned out to be a lot better than I thought. His wardrobe, however... his attire at the 2007 Draft is burned to memory.

Tomorrow for TPP, I'm throwing out words for a NHL preview, though the season has started and proving to people that Todd Collins did not retire in 1998. The latter may be a moot point for the Chicago Bears if Jay Cutler comes around completely from the concussion suffered against the New York Giants.

If you haven't read it yet or ever before, do check out the chock full o'goodness from October's Norman Einstein's Magazine. Though I did not contribute this month, I will for November.

Next, because cell phones are fantastic these days. here's a photo that was taken on 125th Street last week. For those soccer afficionados, yes, the New York Cosmos are coming back... so I think.

Phil or Pat? Who Would You Take?

Color me amazed!

A question to Scribe’s Twitter followers got the attention of @NBA_on_ESPN_RV and has inspired a pretty good debate. To elaborate on those 140 characters:

You’re given a team that has been in the middle of the road for some time. There’s playoff potential, but equal potential for them to get embarrassed in the first round. Because of that treading-water phase of the franchise, you haven’t been able to draft a can’t-miss player and cap space is preciously thin. However, while your squad doesn’t have superstars, some players are on the radar of contending teams.

You have a chance to grab one of these two all-time great coaches. Which would you take: Phil Jackson or Pat Riley?

Of course, the question was inspired by Jackson passing Riley as the winningest coach in Los Angeles Lakers history last night.

Personally, I know who I’d make the case for, but I would hear what you have to say first.

Hub

Though not attending any games this weekend, Scribe is back where it all began... well, at least the sports media career. Some duties at the alma mater have taken away the focus from what has already been a wild and intriguing start to NFL free agency, the official arrival of Starbury in The Hub, the "What?!?!" in terms of Manny Ramirez and all else happening in the world of sports.

With that said, that does not mean that there will be total silence on Scribe this weekend. So while anticipating some new posts, this would be a good time to catch up on previous work, vote on the ongoing poll and check a few links for your viewing pleasure.

• Attention has rapidly faded in regards to the Michael Phelps bong fiasco, yet that's not the case for Kellogg, the cereal maker that canned the Olympic champion swimmer as an endorser. According to this Advertising Age report, their reputation, as opposed to Phelps, has taken a hit.
  
  
• Even with his loss at the WGC - Accenture Match Play Championships, Tiger Woods is still a pretty big deal this weekend. This BusinessWeek piece talks about the return of his impact beyond the PGA itself (expect more on this topic this weekend).
  
  
• From the Los Angeles Times, the City of Industry says to the NFL, "let's do this". Now, with all due respect to the Left Coast, California is kinda broke right now. You decide if this is a wise move as it shouldn't surprise anyone that public funds will be requested... and there's that matter of a team actually moving there. • Finally, from the Chicago Sun-Times... DAMN!

Ridiculous

It's been a bit laborous, surprisingly, as 2008 gets underway. While the final two installations of the Forward series are in draft mode (this craft means too much to just throw something incomplete just to be updated), here's a dose of what Part 6 will discuss.
