Jumpball

Even if the World Series resumes tonight (if Mom Nature allows), you're going to need something else to bounce off of this evening. So, on behalf of all fans who have been waiting patiently through the last 133 days for this night...

Let's... GO!

As good as Boston looks, I'm not feeling a repeat. And I think the Lakers will get upset in the Western Conference finals or semis. They're just too good to be true, and they got a big 'ole bullseye on them. Maybe I'm a hater...

I wouldn't call that hating and I see how both predictions bode true. Mostly this is because (finally) the East is going to be what it should have been last year. The Atlantic is an improved division between Philly and Toronto. Even the Knicks would be capable of stealing a game here and there. Cleveland (so far) looks better than last season and the Pistons have been able to smartly supplement their core with good young players. I'm looking forward to seeing what Atlanta does, as crazy as it sounds. The Southeast division (outside of Charlotte) is underrated, I believe.

The Lakers, if anything, would be stronger because they essentially went to the Finals with half a year of Gasol. A full season and Bynum should give them the early edge, but I think New Orleans and Houston will be at their heels. I think the change of the guard is official when it comes to some of the Western teams, so get used to seeing the Suns, Spurs and Mavs fighting for the 6-8 spots with the Jazz, Blazers and even the Clippers.

Bobcats - Thunder, 2009 NBA Finals. Place your bets.
